Yes thats exactly what Im saying. Tampa put too much pressure on him to be some sort of savior and it killed the beginning of his season. But can you say that he wouldn't have had exactly same kind of pressures in 2009-2010 season? Yes, but he would have been a better, more experienced player

Yes, but he would have been a better, more experienced player But now he isn't experienced? Well now he is because he has a full year under his belt. Look for him to hit the 60-75 point mark next season.

Yes, but he would have been a better, more experienced player But now he isn't experienced? He has half an NHL season of experience of how to score on a crap team. If he'd stayed in juniors, he would have been on a better team, getting top line minutes, and would have developed better

If he'd stayed in juniors, he would have been on a better team, getting top line minutes, and would have developed better I think it was really important for Stamkos to get that rookie season. Now it's out of the way and he can concentrate on leading the team. One pretty darn important aspect of being a franchise player is that you make those other players around you better ie. you make sure your team won't be bad. For example Joe Sakic did that. Result? He's the only player in NHL history to score 100 points in a team that finished deadlast in NHL. And yes, Quebec did suck back then. Way worse than TBL did last season. If you are 1st overall pick, you are expected to be a franchise player. You can't do that, you are not good enough to be a 1st overall pick. (With a franchise player in this post I don't mean a player who is the absolutely best in his team)

No, I gave Sakic as an example of a franchise player. You have a problem with that?

If he'd stayed in juniors, he would have been on a better team, getting top line minutes, and would have developed better That's an extremely bold statement that in all honesty has no backing evidence whatsoever. What more was there for him to learn in the OHL? He already dominated in the juniors - is another season dominating the kids really going to do much? Usually when somebody benefits more from developing in the juniors is when they haven't reached that top tier there yet. Matt Duchene is borderline there... Stamkos wasn't.

*pops head in* Duchene > Stamkos I think so too. I wouldn't trade Duchene one-on-one for Stamkos. Then again, find me a Lightning fan who would trade Stamkos one-on-one for Duchene.

Ask Lightning fans, and they'll say that "give it two or three years and I bet youll find one Avs fan who would do that trade".
